The Weekly Breather: Christ in You

“I know that I have to move from speaking about Jesus to letting him speak within me, from thinking about Jesus to letting him think within me, from acting for and with Jesus to letting him act through me. I know the only way for me to see the world is to see it through his eyes.”
Henri J.M. Nouwen

Settle Yourself and Release

Find a quiet place to relax and be with God. Settle into your seat. Notice the sights, sounds and smells around you. Look for any tension and release it. Take several deep breaths.

Encounter: Feast on God’s Presence

Read this passage over several times. Let the words take shape inside of you.

At that moment you will know absolutely that I’m in my Father, and you’re in me, and I’m in you.
John 14:20

Respond to the Word

Take a piece of paper and crayons, paints, or markers. Draw a picture or diagram as to what this verse means to you. Then sit with your image and to hear what God might say to you.

God be in my head and in my understanding.
God be in my eyes and in my looking.
God be in my mouth and in my speaking.
God be in my heart and in my thinking.
God be at my end and at my departing.
(Sarum Book of Hours, 1514)

The vision of our team is to provide resources designed to encourage individuals in personal soul care and to equip them to care for others within the context of their own vocation, all from a distinctly Wesleyan perspective. We hope that this site is a means to connect resources with those who are in need of training and experience—including pastors, counselors or anyone caring for others.
