Silence and Solitude Retreat

0

What would happen if you took 36 hours to experiment with prayer practices and commune with God in silence?  It was incredible.  Not only did teens come away transformed, they were equipped with incredible tools to continue growing closer to God when they came home.

The most unexpected benefit of this retreat was the powerful impact it had on our introverts.  Too many times youth ministry is not introvert-friendly and they feel like they are somehow less spiritual because they don’t like to be loud and crazy in front of a crowd.  This was exactly what they needed.

Using a lot of information from the book Sacred Way, we taught several ancient prayer practices and spent time doing them.  We also used no electricity except A/C (if you live in the deep south you’ll understand).  Paper for words, candles for lights, you get the idea.

All you need to do is buy the book to prep each of the practices and come up with a schedule (click here to download ours).  Then begin each practice with a teaching on the history of the practice, how it is done, and what students can expect.  Then, release them to do it right then.  Prepare for the most unique and transformative retreat you’ve had in a long time.
