Justin Morgan: Our church context is a brand new multi-site community (launched in November) of a 205 year old UMC in downtown Raleigh, Edenton St. UMC. Our missional focus is on the micro-parish of the six blocks that surround our facility, which is comprised primarily of young adults, creatives, entrepreneurs, restauranteurs, and tech folks.

One of the fun things we did for Pentecost this year was, when the children came forward for communion, they were all “wearing” a red helium balloon—a nod to Pentecost being the church’s birthday and a creative reinterpretation of the Acts 2 story of tongues of fire.

  1. When are people invited to come and make a commitment to Christ? When are they given an opportunity to become members of the Church?
