Acts 17:13-15 (in context)
But when the Jews in Thessalonica learned that Paul was preaching the word of God at Berea, some of them went there too, agitating the crowds and stirring them up. The believers immediately sent Paul to the coast, but Silas and Timothy stayed at Berea. Those who escorted Paul brought him to Athens and then left with instructions for Silas and Timothy to join him as soon as possible.
I want to thank you for your prayers for our family. Tiffani came through the surgery with success today.
I don’t know if the surgeon today was a Christian, but I do know he did a very Christian thing. He served as an instrument of healing. As I visited with him following the surgery he impressed me. Here was a man who had given his life to this healing vocation. He was a Ph.D. and an M.D. He was the lead surgeon/professor in the neurological/spinal surgery center at Vanderbilt. He was British and he was humble.
It occurred to me to thank him for “giving himself to this work and all of the investment it had required of him over the course of many years.” I could tell that recognition meant something to him. He replied, “Thank you so much for saying that.”
As he stood up to go, I asked him if he had to do another one of these surgeries today. He turned and said, “No. I never do surgeries on Fridays. Something told me I needed to do this one today, though.”
This was the doctor who happened to be in the emergency room at 3am on Wednesday. Coincidence?
Not a chance. That’s a God story.
Again, thank you for holding us in prayer today and in the days to come.
COME HOLY SPIRIT!
