Thobaben, Professor of Bioethics and Social Ethics, explains how important friendship is to Christianity and how threatened it is in a postmodern age that now allows you to “unfriend” people through Facebook. Dr. Thobaben discusses the friendship that Jesus intended and how we, as Christians, need to be counter-cultural and reject postmodern tendencies.

Dr. James R. Thobaben came to Asbury Theological Seminary in 1995 with a wide range of experience in ethics. Most recently he served as Vice President for Ethics and Research at Mississippi Methodist Rehabilitation Center.
