Easter Sunday—He Is Risen!

LISTEN NOW!

April 4, 2021

Declare: “He is risen from the dead! He is risen indeed!”

Psalm 98

To the tune of “Amazing Grace” C.M. Sing it at soundtrackforlent.com

1 O sing to God a joyful song,
For He has done great things;
His right hand and His holy arm
great saving pow’r do bring.

2 The Lord’s salvation is made known,
The nations see it well;
3 He has recalled His covenant,
His love to Israel.

The ends of all the earth have seen
Him break the pow’r of wrong;
4 O shout for joy, you nations all,
Burst into joyful song!

5 Sing praises with the harp and horn,
May voices reach the sky;
6 O shout for joy before the Lord,
The King who reigns on high!

7 Let oceans roar and all therein,
All peoples of the earth;
8 Let rivers clap their joyful hands,
And mountains sing His worth.

9 For God the Lord is coming soon
to judge the world He made;
He’ll judge the world with equity,
With righteousness displayed.

Stand Amazed

At the crack of dawn on Sunday, the women came to the tomb carrying the burial spices they had prepared. They found the entrance stone rolled back from the tomb, so they walked in. But once inside, they couldn’t find the body of the Master Jesus.

They were puzzled, wondering what to make of this. Then, out of nowhere it seemed, two men, light cascading over them, stood there. The women were awestruck and bowed down in worship. The men said, “Why are you looking for the Living One in a cemetery? He is not here, but raised up. Remember how he told you when you were still back in Galilee that he had to be handed over to sinners, be killed on a cross, and in three days rise up?” Then they remembered Jesus’ words.

They left the tomb and broke the news of all this to the Eleven and the rest. Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them kept telling these things to the apostles, but the apostles didn’t believe a word of it, they thought they were making it all up.

But Peter jumped to his feet and ran to the tomb. He stooped to look in and saw a few grave clothes, that’s all. He walked away puzzled, shaking his head. (Luke 24:1–12 MSG)

Behold the Risen Lord

Having beheld the resurrection of Christ, let us worship the holy Lord Jesus, the only Sinless One. We venerate Your cross, O Christ, and we praise and glorify Your holy resurrection. You are our God. We know no other than You, and we call upon Your name. Come, all faithful, let us venerate Christ’s holy resurrection. For behold, through the cross joy has come to all the world. Blessing the Lord always, let us praise his resurrection. For enduring the cross for us, he destroyed death by death. —John Chrysostom

Celebrate

“Christ the Lord is risen today,”
Sons of men and angels say!
Raise your joys and triumphs high,
sing ye heavens, and earth reply.

Love’s redeeming work is done
Fought the fight, the battle won:
Lo! Our Sun’s eclipse is o’er,
lo! He sets in blood no more.

Vain the stone, the watch, the seal;
Christ has burst the gates of hell!
Death in vain forbids him rise:
Christ hath opened paradise!

Lives again our glorious King,
where, O death, is now thy sting?
Dying once, he all doth save,
where thy victory, O grave?

Soar we now where Christ has led,
following our exalted Head,
made like him, like him we rise;
ours the cross, the grave, the skies!

King of glory, soul of bliss,
everlasting life is this;
Thee to know, thy power to prove,
thus to sing, and thus to love!
