Sometimes it is our youth parents. Sometimes it might be students. It could even be your small group leaders, teachers or volunteer leaders. But there will always be those who don’t agree with what you’re doing. When we get caught up in pleasing those who aren’t happy, we often lose sight of the vision God planted in our hearts to begin with.
If you have taken a mission trip with students, you inevitably have encountered a student or two who was on the trip FOR THE WRONG REASON! Whether he was following a girl or she was fulfilling her service hours requirement, there are students who go on trips for reasons other than serving the Lord and His people. What do you do with these students?
Many moons ago, a youth pastor friend shared with me one of the greatest and most simple ideas to raise money for ministry. He called it Club 316. Basically, he recruited members of the congregation to support the youth ministry by pledging to give $3.16 per week for a year. You might think that doesn’t seem like enough to do anything. You’d be surprised.

We are often faced with adversity and challenged because of our beliefs. The issues of “Does God Exist” often come up in discussions of creation vs evolution, morality, good vs evil, and relativism. It is vital for us to understand what we believe and why we hold the belief in God.

Outside all the Zombie talk we’re using to hopefully grab and hold attention of the kids, this week’s real topic is Justifying Grace. Today, some call God’s justifying grace “conversion” or being “born again.” When we experience God’s justifying grace, we come into that new life in Christ.
This week we are talking about Prevenient Grace. We used the zombie theme to identify with the students, but you saw right through that. Essentially, prevenient means “to come before.” Thus, prevenient grace is grace that comes before salvation.
Sin doesn’t make us bad. Sin makes us DEAD…and we are all sinners. The good news is God has a plan, a remedy, a fix for deadness. That remedy is GRACE! For the next few weeks, we’ll be talking about this grace and what it looks like in our lives.
