The other evening I discovered a very interesting online tool that gave me great personal insight. The Upper Room Living Prayer Center website has a questionnaire called, “What is Your Spiritual Type?

For fun, I completed the 15 questions to discover that I am a Mystic right along with Thomas Merton, Charlie Brown and even the Who! This was a confirmation from God, as I have felt a pull within myself that I have never fully embraced.

After clicking the link and taking the quiz, relax your body and center your mind on God’s word.

Settle Yourself: Release

Take a few deep, slow breaths. Close your eyes. Notice your breathing. Relax your muscles one by one. Become aware of how you feel in your seat. Offer any anxiety to the Lord.

Encounter: Feast on the Word

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
1 Corinthians 12: 4-6

Respond:

Now, close your eyes and go to the Lord. Ask him these questions:

1. How might I live more fully into the spiritual type that you have given me?
2. How might this unique spiritual type be used for the Kingdom of God?

Pray

In your own words, take this quote from Thomas Merton and make it into a prayer of celebration for who God created you to be.

“Finally I am coming to the conclusion that my highest ambition is to be what I already am. That I will never fulfill my obligation to surpass myself unless I first accept myself, and if I accept myself fully in the right way, I will already have surpassed myself.”
