Thank you so much for your interest in partnering with us in the work we are doing for the Kingdom of God! My name is Patricia Taylor, and I am the editor for the Soul Care Collective and represent our Steering Committee. I am also the Editorial Assistant for Seedbed.com. I am here to assist you in your writing endeavors, and to make sure that everyone looks good!
The goal of our collective is to resource and support anyone who cares for souls. Our target audience is anyone from clinicians in the mental health field to lay ministers and ordinary people who are facing the struggles of life. Our topics range from clinical mental health diagnoses to the means of grace and ways to grow closer to God.
The basic guidelines for our written blog posts are these:
Our target word count is 800-1000 words. We won’t send you to the guillotine for sending 600 words. However, if you send us 120 words, we may send your submission back for editing. We also accept articles that are 1200-1500 words, if they include subheadings.
Your work may not be published elsewhere. Works that are not original will reduce our standing with Google, so we tend to avoid anything that is not original content. Occasionally, we may make an exception to this rule, but those situations are rare and are at the editor’s discretion.
Your work may be subject to slight editing (primarily for grammar and readability). If we ever have to make heavy edits or any actual content or meaning needs to be changed, we will contact you to do a revision. We often slightly change titles in order to make the piece more receptive to our audience and more likely to catch our readers’ attention.
Your work is subject to theological scrutiny. If we have concerns about the theology of what you write, we may contact you to discuss the matter. We may politely decline to publish works based on theological matters.
Your submission must be accompanied by a brief, 2-3 sentence bio that tells our readers a little about yourself and a good head-shot photograph of yourself that can be cropped and resized to 100×100 pixels. These will be included on your article and your author page, if published.
If you have any questions or concerns, or if you need any assistance with any of the steps for submission, please do not hesitate to contact me! I am here to help you be the best writer you can be. You can reach me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can submit any articles for consideration directly to me.
Your file name should include your first initial and last name, then your preferred title. (Ex. PTaylor Care of Souls.docx) We prefer for your submission to be in MS Word format (.doc or .docx) or in Google Documents format if possible.
You will receive confirmation that I have received your submission within 48 hours and will be notified again, within two weeks, with our decision of whether to publish your submission. At that time, you will be given a date range of when to expect your article to publish. This date range may extend up to a month for regular posts, and up to a year for anything seasonal (i.e. – articles about Christmas).
Again, thank you for your interest! I look forward to working with you!
