Psalm 91

Julie Tennent

1Those who dwell with the Almighty, in the shelter of His wings;
They will rest within the shadow of the care His presence brings.
2I will say of Him, the Lord God, “He’s my refuge whom I trust;
He’s my God, my strength and fortress, in Him I will put my trust.”

3Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and pestilence;
4With His feathers He will cover, and will be your sure defense.
You will find your constant refuge in the shadow of His wings;
Faithfulness will be your rampart, and your shield amidst all things.

5You won’t fear the night’s dark terror, nor the arrow in the day;
6Nor the pestilence of darkness, nor the plague’s destructive way.
7Though a thousand at your side fall, or ten thousand at your hand,
8It won’t harm you; you’ll just see it—how the wicked will not stand.

9The Most High—if He’s your dwelling, if the Lord‘s your confidence,
10Then no harm will come upon you, or disaster near your tents.
11For His angels will surround you, guard you in your ways alone;
12They will lift you in their hands so that your foot won’t strike a stone.

13You will tread upon the lion, and the cobra without fear;
You will trample the great lion, and the serpent who comes near.
14The Lord says, “Because he loves Me, I will rescue him from shame;
I’ll protect him from all danger—he acknowledges My name.

15He will call to Me—I’ll answer; when he needs Me, I will hear.
I’ll deliver him with honor; in his trouble I’ll be near.
16With long life, I’ll satisfy him, till the time his days will cease;
I will show him My salvation; he will dwell within My peace.”
