Psalm 87

Julie Tennent

1He has set His own foundation on the holy mount of God;
2The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than Jacob’s vast abodes;
3Glorious things of you are spoken, Zion, city of our God!
4“I will mention all who know Me, who acknowledge me as God:

There are Babylon and Rahab, Tyre and Cush, Philistia, too;
I will say of them, “In Zion, these were born – not just a few!”
5For of Zion it is said that, “This one, that one, here were born,
And the Lord Most High Himself will her establish whom He formed.”

6Then the Lord will write within the registry of peoples all:
“This one here was born in Zion where God’s people on Him call;”
7Then all those who sing and play flutes, will sing with great joy imbued –
“All the springs of joy abundant; all my fountains are in you!”
