1In Judah God is known; great name in Israel;
2His tent is in Jerusalem; in Zion He does dwell.
3For there He broke the spears; the flashing arrows bright;
The swords and shields, the weapons all of war by His great might.
4Your glorious light shines forth, majestic more than hills
or mountains rich with game You are, with light resplendent filled.
5The brave and stout of heart, lie plundered, cannot stand;
They sleep their last; no warrior’s left who can lift up his hand.
6At Your rebuke, O God; O God of Jacob still;
At Your rebuke, both horse and man with chariot all lie still.
7You, God, are to be feared; before You who can stand?
Who in Your presence can abide when anger’s in Your hand?
8From heaven judgment came; earth quiet was, in fear;
9When You, O God, rose up to judge, to save the humble here.
10Your wrath against men, Lord, does surely bring You praise;
And with a remnant of Your wrath You clothe Yourself with praise.
11Make vows unto the Lord; fulfill them with heart clear;
Let all who are around bring gifts to Him who’s to be feared.
12For He will cut off pride; the pride of princes’ worth;
The Lord is awesome, to be feared by kings of all the earth.
