Psalm 57

1Be gracious unto me, O God, be merciful to me;
My soul takes refuge, Lord, within the shadow of Your wings.
I refuge take in You until destruction passes by;
2To God who works all things for me, to Him alone I cry.

3For He will send from heav’n above salvation unto me;
He will reproach all those who do attack and trample me.
For God will send forth unto me His presence faithfully,
His lovingkindness and His truth – with me they’ll always be.

4My soul among the lions lies, with those who breathe forth fire;
The sons of men whose teeth are spears, whose tongues sharp swords inspire.
5Above the heavens, O Lord God, may You exalted be;
Your glory over all the earth, let all the peoples see.

6They have prepared a net for me – for my steps to be caught;
My soul is bowed down low, because a pit for me they sought.
They dug a pit before my path, but see what God has done!
For they have fallen in the pit – into it they have run.

7My heart is steadfast, O my God, and I will sing Your praise!
8Awake, my glory – harp and lyre, awaken dawn of days!
9And I will give thanks unto You, O Lord, midst people all,
I will sing praises unto You among the nations all.

10Your lovingkindness does extend beyond the heav’n’s above;
Your faithfulness unto the clouds which shower forth Your love.
11Above the heavens, O Lord God, may You exalted be,
Your glory over all the earth, let all the peoples see.
