1O great is the Lord; most worthy of praise
on His holy mount, in His city raised.
2Its beauty in loftiness, joy of the earth –
Mt. Zion, the city whose King gives its worth.
3For God is in her; He shows Himself strong
4when kings join their ranks as they march along.
5They saw her, astounded – in terror they fled
6for trembling had seized them like labor pain dread.
7You smote them like ships of Tarshish destroyed,
Which, shattered by wind, could not be deployed.
8As we’ve heard, so we’ve seen, in God’s city strong
God makes her secure with all who there belong.
9When we come into Your temple, O God,
We meditate on Your unfailing love.
10Like Your name, O God, Your praise through earth resounds;
Your right hand with righteousness greatly abounds.
11Mt. Zion does sing, the villages, too –
They’re glad, because all Your judgments are true.
12Go walk around Zion, her citadels count;
Go round her and wonder at God’s holy mount.
13Consider most well her ramparts and tow’rs,
So that you may tell your children her pow’r.
14For this God’s our God, and forever will be;
Our guide to the end, ever faithful is He!
