Psalm 127

CM (86.86)
Julie Tennent

1Unless the Lord does build the house,
The builders work in vain;
Unless the Lord the city guards,
The watchmen guard in vain.

2It’s vain for you to rise early,
And late your work to keep;
To eat the bread of painful toil –
He grants His loved ones sleep.

3For children are your heritage,
A gift from God in truth;
4Like arrows in the warrior’s hand
are children of one’s youth.

5How blessed is the man who has
a quiver full of them;
They’ll not be shamed when in the gate
with foes they do contend.
