Psalm 114

CM (86.86)
Julie Tennent

1When Isr’el out of Egypt came from those they dwelt among;
When Jacob’s house went out from those that were of foreign tongue;

2Then Judah did God’s house become, and Isr’el His domain;
3The sea did look and fled away; the Jordan did the same.

4The mountains skipped like rams quite young; the hills, like little lambs;
5Why was it, Sea, that you did flee? Turned back, O Jordan’s dam?

6Why, mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, hills, like little lambs?
7O tremble, earth, before the Lord! Before the great I AM.

8Before the fear of Jacob’s God, who from the rock did bring
a pool of water, and turned rock into a fountain spring.
