When Isr’el out of Egypt came from those they dwelt among;
When Jacob’s house went out from those that were of foreign tongue;
Then Judah did God’s house become, and Isr’el His domain;
The sea did look and fled away; the Jordan did the same.
The mountains skipped like rams quite young; the hills, like little lambs;
Why was it, Sea, that you did flee? Turned back, O Jordan’s dam?
Why, mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, hills, like little lambs?
O tremble, earth, before the Lord! Before the great I AM.
Before the fear of Jacob’s God, who from the rock did bring
a pool of water, and turned rock into a fountain spring.
