Psalm 11

C.M. (86.86)
Julie Tennent

1In God the Lord I refuge take;
How can you say to me:
2“Look, how the wicked bend their bow –
Now to your mountain flee!

Their arrow is upon the string,
The upright in their view;
3When all foundations are destroyed,
What can the righteous do?”

4The Lord is in His holy place;
The Lord is on His throne.
His eyes do see, His eyelids test
the sons of men He owns.

5The Lord examines righteous ones,
And tests the wicked, too.
Those who love violence, His soul hates,
And this is what He’ll do.

6Upon the wicked, He will rain
fire coals that will burn up;
Fire, brimstone, burning wind will be
the portion of their cup.

7For God the Lord is righteous, and
He loves true righteousness;
The upright will behold His face
and in His presence rest.
