Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergymen or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth.” – John Wesley

John Wesley believed in the collective power of preachers to impact the world for the kingdom of God. The success of the Wesleyan movement in the 18th century was the product of a growing handful of people, mostly laity, who may have lacked the education of today’s seminary-trained clergy but who burned with the fire of the Holy Spirit and dedicated themselves to spreading scriptural holiness across the land.

We at Seedbed believe that a new revival of that movement is poised to once again break out in churches and communities across the world. Launching today, the Preaching Collective is designed to give those who bring God’s Word to people, be they men or women, clergy or laity, serving in small rural churches or suburban megachurches, the tools, ideas, and resources that we pray will enable us to “shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth.”

We’ve assembled a growing cadre of contributors from across the Wesleyan connection to provide you with some of the experienced preaching help you may not have learned in seminary. Each week you’ll have the opportunity to view new content that will provide you with tools for your preaching toolbox, including practical tips for preaching in different situations, sermon series ideas and outlines, wisdom from veteran preachers and professors, and a host of other resources that you can read and use with your congregation or share with other preachers in your network. The Preaching Collective will be a place where preachers can share ideas, ask questions, get advice, and learn from one another.

More than ever before, the world needs to hear the gospel and God continues to raise up preachers for the task. Wesley believed he could change the world with a hundred preachers. What might we be able to do with even more?
